It is not very correct when someone uses the ignorance of the end consumer to their advantage. We often have to explain that sliding systems for double-glazed windows, namely - Guillotine, sliding, folding type "booklet" - are not warm systems. The presence of double-glazed windows in the system does not automatically make the system warm! No no and one more time no!
How can we convey information to the end user? Only through such explanatory articles. After all, no one explains that the profile in the system remains cold and it will give off heat, and also the thickness of the distance in the profile system under the double-glazed window does not allow installing a thick double-glazed window, that is, one that is considered warm in terms of parameters.
Then the question arises why there are no warm sliding systems, if there is such a big demand in the market?
Systems are warm, but they are warmer than Sliding. But even for warm sliding aluminum systems there are a lot of questions:
- ingress of cold air from the outside through the seals
- freezing of the seal in cold weather
- a very large mass of the structure, the system is not easy to operate, it is not very convenient to open and close it, especially for women.
That is, there are warm aluminum sliding systems on the market, but they are limited in functionality. The appearance on the market of sliding frameless systems in one glass with wide functionality, such as sliding, like a book, like an accordion, guillotine very quickly gained their popularity due to convenience and ease of use. Following sliding frameless systems in one glass, the same systems appeared on the market, only under a double-glazed window. And the main function of a double-glazed window in such a system is only greater sound insulation compared to single glass, but not energy saving.
But what actually differs between warm and cold aluminum systems, read on ....
Let's understand what is a warm aluminum system and what is a cold aluminum system. The aluminum profile of the warm aluminum system of any manufacturer has
thermal break, thermal bridge. The thermal bridge is made of a material that has poor thermal conductivity, that is, it does not pass either heat or cold through itself so quickly. Inside the profile is the temperature that is in the room, and outside it is the temperature that is outside. The first conclusion is that warm aluminum systems are used as a glazing boundary between a warm (heated) room and the street. We figured out the warm profile, but most of the opening is occupied by a double-glazed window and it will bear the main losses. And a warm double-glazed window is both the thickness of the glass and the number of glasses in the double-glazed window and the distance between them. But this is not our main topic in this article, so we will not delve into the science called a warm double-glazed window, but simply summarize that a warm double-glazed window cannot be thin - the second conclusion. So, a warm aluminum system with a warm double-glazed window is, first of all, a heavy structure that must be properly and firmly fixed in the opening, if we are talking about windows or doors. If this is a facade, then special racks and crossbars are pre-exposed, into which a double-glazed window is installed. This is the third conclusion that we draw from the knowledge gained - the system is not designed for movements, except for those that are technologically incorporated in it - thermal expansion, this issue is solved by special brackets. But even such heavy systems can be sliding, warm aluminum suppliers offer sliding sliding systems for 2 or 3 leaves or warm accordions up to 9 leaves. And this is where the possibility of warm sliding systems ends.
Now let's figure out what is sliding frameless glazing? This is the same aluminum profile, but without a thermal bridge. Why not install a thermostat? Yes, all because in sliding frameless systems, the key words are “sliding” and “frameless”. Frameless means that the insole can hold without vertical frames. And without frames, only single glass from 6 mm to 12 mm thick can hold. So, we came to the fourth conclusion that double-glazed windows cannot be frameless, and accordingly, why make a warm aluminum profile if we install only one glass. This is where our puzzle came together. Frameless sliding systems are aluminum profile systems without a thermal bridge, into which only single glass is inserted, which does not need vertical frames due to the high load-bearing capacity of aluminum as a material. It is enough that the glass is fixed in the panel profile at the bottom and at the top. Well, what can be the systems of sliding frameless glazing (top-hung, bottom-support, balcony type, etc.) You can find this information on our website. Accordingly, the scope of sliding frameless systems is indoors or only outside, but not as a border between a heated and an unheated room. Why then are they needed if they are not warm? Sliding frameless systems are used as wind protection, rain protection, animal protection, internal zoning of premises. You can install these systems everywhere, as they do not spoil either the interior or the exterior with their transparency.

And if the system is frameless sliding, then it cannot be warm. And by the way, pay attention when they tell you that the system is warm, because it is with double-glazed windows.
